Own a Vineyard

Growing grapes and making wine is part of the early history of San Diego.    The soils and climate of this region are excellent for viticulture, and grapes grow well in this environment.  Grape growing, using sustainable environmental practices, are the techniques used by William Holzhauer.  Carefully planning the vineyards, using the natural terrains and studying the wind and sun patterns, allows for nature to do most of the work.  In comparison to other agricultural crops, grapes are low water users, and need maintenance is needed only during certain seasons.  It is best to help guide, not completely control, the natural process for the best tasting grapes.

The seasons are evident in the vineyard....buds in the spring, full leafy foliage and grapes in the summer, harvest and leaves turning colors in the fall, and then dormant in the winter.  Vineyards add to the natural beauty of any area and is one of the fastest growing agricultural industries in San Diego County.  As low water users, they also are environmentally friendly, and add an agricultural element to communities to support local wildlife.
